Standard gauges are manufactured to class 6g (Medium fit) and comprise a Go gauge ring which checks the Major and Effective diameters are to specification and not oversize, at the same time checking the pitch and flank geometry. The No Go gauge ring checks the Effective diameter to ensure it is not undersize.
